Advocate, D.O. Welcomes Two New Team Members

Advocate, D.O. is having a great year with double digit growth. We continue to add staff ahead of the increased workload to maintain our outstanding customer service reputation.

Robert D. Morton, ARM, CPHRM – Director of Risk Management
Mr. Morton is responsible for the development and implementation of risk management products, services and education.

Mr. Morton began his career in 1990 as a Risk Manager at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, TX. After moving to Austin in 1994, he joined American Physicians Insurance Exchange where he built a comprehensive risk management program with a heavy emphasis on individual and group practice risk management consultation and specialty specific loss prevention education for physicians. Mr. Morton is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) and a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management. He also completed and earned the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) program of the American Institute for CPCU and Insurance Institute of America. He is a current Board Member of the South Texas Society for Healthcare Risk Management. Mr. Morton earned his BA in English and Minor in Business Management from the University of Texas, El Paso in 1990.

Natalie Higgins – Claims Administrative Assistant
Ms. Higgins is responsible for everyday administrative support functions of the claims department including physician credentialing, new claim set up and claims maintenance and reporting.

Ms. Higgins worked as the Operations Supervisor Contractor for 3 years in Medical Records, Release of Information at St. David’s Hospital. In her role as Operations Supervisor, she worked directly under the Area Manager and was responsible for the day to day operations of all St. David’s hospitals including clinics in San Antonio and Fredericksburg. Prior to her work at St. David’s, Ms. Higgins was a District Sales Coordinator for Prime Hospitality where she created marketing strategies to launch several newly invested properties. Ms. Higgins is currently enrolled at Concordia University pursuing a degree in Business Management.

Ms Higgins is passionately involved with and volunteers for the Darrell Armstrong Foundation for Premature babies. Having given birth to a premature baby herself, Ms. Higgins is intimately aware of the benefits of this organization. Ms Higgins is also a motivational spokesperson, speaking to youth children through the Speak to Our Youth organization. In her spare time she loves out door activities, traveling, and cooking.

Advocate, D.O. plans to continue to expand through the end of 2007 and looks forward to adding several additional people to help meet and exceed your needs and expectations.
