Dr. Bernard Barrett is the Clinical Professor of Surgery at St. Luke’s Medical Tower in Houston, Texas as well as a well
known and successful Plastic Surgeon. While serving his internship under Dr. Michael De Bakey, at Baylor, Barrett was named
"Outstanding Surgical Intern, The Methodist Hospital". Dr. Barrett is a Diplomat, American Board of Plastic Surgery, Fellow,
American College of Surgeons, and Clinical Professor of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Barrett was also named,
"Outstanding Teaching Plastic Surgeon, St. Luke’s Hospital," by the Michael E. De Bakey Department of Surgery, Division of
Plastic Surgery graduating residents.
Dr. Barrett obtained his Bachelor of Science from Tulane after three years (Advanced Placement Program). He served as President
of his medical school class, President of his medical fraternity, and Chancellor of the Honor Board at University of Miami. He
won a surgical exchange scholarship to the Royal College of Surgeons and to Oxford under Professor Sir Hedley Atkins, K.B.E.
Dr. Barrett was appointed to the Federal Council on Aging by President George Bush. He is featured in Marquis Who’s Who in the
World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in American Education and others.
Active in plastic surgical societies, Dr. Barrett has served as an officer and director. Widely published, he has made
numerous national and international professional presentations. Dr. Barrett’s latest book, Patient Care in Plastic Surgery,
2nd edition (Mosby) is a leading seller.
