As the Director of Underwriting, Ms. Parker is responsible for creating and maintaining the underwriting process within
Advocate, MD. Ms. Parker is an Officer on the Advocate, MD Insurance board. She brings in-depth experience with Medical Malpractice Insurance protocol. Her commitment
to loss control and knowledge of acceptable risk is moving the company forward in establishing the best client
base possible. Ms. Parker also oversees Advocate, MD’s compliance with the Texas Department of Insurance and the Mississippi Department of Insurance, executes forms, handles all filing for the company, directs and educates the underwriting staff, and further develops business
relationships with our appointed agents and the insurance community.
Background
Ms. Parker’s career began over 30 years ago in the medical field before moving into the Texas medical insurance
field. Before coming to Advocate, MD, Ms. Parker had a five-year career as an Underwriter with Texas Medical Liability Trust (TMLT) where she maintained a profitable territory as well as maintained one of the lowest loss
ratios for the Company each year. During her nine-year career with American Physicians Insurance (API), Ms.
Parker was instrumental in the acquisition of large group accounts, in addition to handling those accounts
requiring special attention.
Ms. Parker is an Honor Graduate from Texas State Technical College and holds a General Lines Agent-Property
and Casualty license in the State of Texas. She is in the process of completing her Registered Professional
Liability Underwriter (RPLU) certification. Ms. Parker is also a member of the South Texas Society for Healthcare
Risk Management (STSHRM), the Professional Liability Underwriters Society (PLUS) and is an avid volunteer for the
Make-A-Wish Foundation.
