Mr. Murphy has over 35 years experience in the healthcare industry, including serving on the board of Advocate, MD Financial Group Inc. (the Company). Mr. Murphy served as the President of Advocate, MD Insurance of the Southwest Inc. prior to his retirement and served as Strategic Project Leader during his transition into retirement.

Background

Mr. Murphy was also the founder, Chairman and CEO of American Physicians Services Group, Inc. (AMPH) in 1973 and American Physicians Insurance Exchange (writing medical malpractice insurance in Texas and Arkansas). Other subsidiaries were APS Financial Services, APS Computer and Data Processing Services, API Life Insurance Company and Prime Medical Corporation. He retired from this company in 1992 and remained on its board until 2001.

Mr. Murphy was active in several insurance associations, selected Insurance Executive of the Year in Texas in 1965, traveling with a National delegation meeting with insurance executives in Western Europe and Russia. He has been a long time member of the Young Presidents Organization and World Presidents Organization, and was an officer of the YPO in Dallas.
